Senior Staff Accountant, Finance and Accounting

Tell us about your job. What do you do?
I’m the Senior Staff Accountant for the West corporate division. I maintain the general ledger system, oversee expense recognition, prepare and analyze financial reports and work papers, assist in the month end close process, analyze budget variance reports.  I am responsible for cash reconciliation and the initiation of daily transactions.  I also manage our corporate card program. I work closely with the other accounting divisions to ensure consistent accounting procedures while adhering to policies.  I field any questions in regards to accounting for the corporate division.

How did you begin your career at West? How did you advance through the company? What’s made you successful?
I started 15 years ago on the inbound production floor while I was in college. I remember taking calls for RonCo products and even meeting Ron Popeil! Once I graduated, I accepted a position as a billing specialist with West Telemarketing. After six months, I was promoted to a billing coordinator. Shortly after, I moved to corporate finance as a Financial Specialist for two years. Next, I was promoted to a Staff Accountant, and two years after that I was promoted to Senior Staff Accountant.

What’s made me successful is that I was always willing to put in the effort. I took the initiative to ask for more projects, be helpful and assist others.

What do you love about your job?
The diversity. There are so many different aspects I’m responsible for. I have interaction with all the different areas of the company, and I like that.

What’s the best thing about working here? What makes you proud to work for West?
